  1. Public Comment: Guest – Alice Brockman

Discussion and display of items from Duck Lake Trail Also see Item 6D below.

    1. She says maintenance is needed on the trail. It needs mowing and difficult to walk when wet. Needs better signage.

Townships mows the Duck Lake Nature Trail and Merle thinks this is on the schedule for the near future. He will check with Randy.

    1. Is it to be wheel chair accessible to the footbridge? She noticed people

seem to go that far as a destination.

    1. Is it possible to get a bench near the west end of the footbridge?

Lynn has two benches to be placed on the trail clearing. Will need help

with holes to dig and getting benches there due to size and weight.

Original benches have been there for approximately 10 years; may be

 torn apart.

    1. Most of the markers are gone, vandalized or missing. Two or three

appear to be there. Signs, trail markers were put in last Fall.

    1. There is no sign on West entrance.

Area discussed is privately owned; limited parking; private road and

easements. Will have to check possibilities.

    1. Ernest Roeker Trail. Boardwalk is damaged.

It is a pier used as a boardwalk given by and installed by the town.

Someone will be checking with Scott S. to see if he still is available

for repairs.

    1. Bridge needs painting.  Discussion as to maintenance, painting, leave it

rustic? Will be discussed after meeting at Duck Lake Nature Trail.

Footbridge is there to break up possible motorized vehicle traffic.

Gene Decker – tree donation

  1. Old Business:

A.  Man hour log passed around to members to fill in their volunteer hours.

            B.  Tree dedication plaque for the late Bill Andrew may not be complete.

                  Need pole for plaque placement?

            C.  Korona Park Plans

John DeBaere met with John Packard to view and walk the property with a laser. 90% of elderberry appears to be dead at top. Did not go forward to Planning Commission since more information needed regarding parking spots, restrictions regarding road drop, materials needed, ADA requirements. May not be able to put in parking where originally

planned. Culvert would have to be put in. Due to cost factors involved in placing these parking spots, materials exceeding $4000.00 may

mean this may be cost prohibitive. May need to plan

differently. May need path and bench only and take care of water drainage

first.

As John DeBaere was at park cutting, measuring, etc. he was approached by local residents who said they would not be happy with parking spots.

If we decide no parking spots, may put in benches if approved by Planning

Commission. Not sure how many benches, bridge, etc.?  Needs more planning

and discussion before going back to the Planning Commission for a variance.. Also DNR as needs to see what we are planning first.

We still have questions about stream design, permit etc.

.

Per John  we should put this on hold for now. He is cutting front area which is accessible with his mower. May need help to get a brush hog for rest.

Mike suggested doing this in phases due to finances. Plan was to put up placards and ask for help from Boy Scouts as a project.

Motion made by John not to go forward to Planning Commission at this time.. Second by Mike. 5-0-0.

Motion made by John  suspend activity on Korona Park and not going before

Planning Commission until preliminary stream work and more research is done. Second by Dawn. 5-0-0.

Dawn and Lynn looking into the Community Outreach grant process. State pays 50% . Our budget was cut 66% to be used between 3 parks. Do we have stream remediation money? Volunteers for projects?

6.              D. Duck Lake Nature Trail Plans and Walk – also see above Public Comment

A.    Alice Brockman brought items from the trail and gave us some insight, She is picking up any debris she can carry as she walks or rides the trail.

B.     Alice said markers A, B  C on the ground in February.. Can we put in stakes?

C.     Any dead trees are chopped down by the township.

D.    John Packard has been contacted and will be coming to help us with the walk and post hole digging. We need to dig at least 4 holes and put in sakrete.

E.     Gene Decker offered a post hole digger.

F.      Someone is calling Lynn to get measurements of benches. Merle to call

Randy for help to install or haul items.

G.    Last fall 5 gal buckets of concrete with pipe  and metal holders were used.

H.    Per Mike, letter was sent earlier by Alice Brockman with regards to Duck Lake Nature Trail and it’s maintenance and recommending the boardwalk be extended 75 feet on west end. Mike to ask Scott if we can repair existing

Boardwalk?  Original design was narrow and had to pass state inspection

And allow wildlife to pass under..

I.       Alice Brockman invited to our meeting at Duck Lake Nature Trail on

Thursday, May 17th at 6:00pm to find markers, etc.

In 4 years... 50% for use in fire and emergency services and

Approximately $12,000  or 25% for parks.  Will have to check with  Merle

and Debbie Kirch to see how it is broken down for groups.
