Town of Geneva Park Commission
Thursday, January 7, 2010
Geneva Town Hall

1. Chair, John Packard absent. Vice-Chair, Mike Sarton, called the meeting to order at 6:12p.m.
A. Meeting was duly posted.
2. Roll call was taken.
A. In attendance were: Dawn Schiefelbein, Lynn Wesolek, Alice Winn Lubinski, and. Mike Sarton. John Packard, Penny Wagner and Dominick Bierdek were absent. Also in attendance was Sandy Isola
3. Agenda Approval
A. Lynn moves to approve the Agenda. Alice seconded the motion.
B. Motion carries 4-0-0
4. Approval of minutes of Dec. 3, 2009
A, Lynn moves to approve the minutes.
B. Dawn seconds the motion. Motion carries 4-0-0
5. Public Comment
A. None
6. Old Business
A. Man hour log was passed around to members to fill in their time.
B. Korona Park update – John absent-his report read
1)The vegetation removal and land disturbance permits for the brush clearing at Korona Park have been submitted to the Walworth County Land Use and Resource Management office.
2) We should have word shortly after the New Year regarding proceeding with brush removal.
3)The permits cost $150, although there was some confusion about additional fees among the staff, so we might need to spend another $100 or so to secure all required permits.
4) Assuming our project is permitted, we will then need to run an ad to solicit bids for the brush removal.
5) Best case scenario would be the permit goes through the first or second week of January 2010, and we have received enough bids by our February 4th 2010 meeting to choose a contractor.
6) The County seemed perfectly agreeable with clearing brush before developing a full-fledged landscape plan.
C. DLNT Nature Trail Boardwalk installation update - Mike Sarton
1) Mike had a meeting with Stacy Marshall, ACOE.
2) Pam Schense, DNR, was notified that DNR owned the property
3) Mike was referred to Brian Glenzinski by Schense.
4) Mike called Brian four times with no reply.
5) Still no permit for the boardwalk, but getting closer to resolving this issue.
D. DLNT bridge repair update – Mike Sarton
1) Mike called Mike Johnson for update.
2) No repair date set as of yet.
3) Mike will call Johnson to pin him down for a repair date and will report at next meeting.
4) Possible that we will have to ask for a rebid on the project if Johnson is not able to make repairs in a timely manner.
E. DLNT Workday Placard Installation – Mike Sarton
1) Mike installed all placards but #10 which needed to be trimmed and installed.
2) Dawn checking in with Signs of the Times for new placard #16, Butternut design.
3) Mike suggested that we check to see if there is a Butternut at that location before we proceed and that the post for #16 would need to be reburied.
4) #16 tabled till next meeting.
F. Town sign update
1) Margaret Downing not present
2) Table to next meeting
G. DLNT Buckthorn removal update – John Packard absent-his report read
1) The ad for the Buckthorn removal will run Jan 3 thru Jan 9
2) Update next meeting.
H. Replacement for Dominick Bierdek
1) Sandy Isola was present.
2) Park Board explained what our purpose was.
3) Sandy said she would consider the position and let us know.

A. No directive this month
9. Confirm next meeting date: Feb. 4, 2010 at 6:00p.m.

A. Lynn moves to adjourn the meeting at 6:35
