January 1, 2009 No. 116 Adoption of Natural Areas/Critical Species Habitat Protection/Mgmt Plan
TOWN OF GENEVA
RESOLUTION NO. 116
WHEREAS, the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), which was duly created by the Governor of the State of Wisconsin in accordance with Section 66.945 of the Wisconsin Statutes on the 8th day of August, 1960, upon petition of the Counties of Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha, has the function and duty of making and adopting a Master Plan for the physical development of the Southeastern Wisconsin Region; and
WHEREAS, the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission has:
1. Collected, compiled, processed, and analyzed various types of natural area, critical species habitat, and geological and archaeological site date and materials pertaining to the Region;
2. Prepared objective, principles, and standards for regional natural area, critical species habitat, and geological and archaeological site protection and management;
3. Adopted on September 10, 1997, "A Natural Areas and Critical Species Habitat Protection and Management Plan for the Region", which plan is intended to amend and extend the previously adopted "Regional Park and Open Space Plan"; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned inventories, analyses, objectives, principles, standards, and adopted plan are set forth in a published report entitled "SEWRPC Planning Report No. 42", A Regional Natural Areas and Critical Species Habitat Protection and Management Plan for Southeastern Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Geneva has supported, participated in the financing of, and generally concurred in the regional planning programs undertaken by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and believes that the Natural Areas and Critical Species Habitat Protection and Management Plan prepared by the Commission will be a valuable guide not only to the development of the Region, but of the local area, and the adoption of such plan by the Town of Geneva will help assure a common understanding by the several governmental levels and agencies concerned, and enable their staffs to program the necessary plan implementation work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 66.945(12) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the Town of Geneva, on this 3rd day of November, 1997 hereby adopts the "Regional Natural Areas and Critical Species Habitat Protection and Management Plan" as set forth in SEWRPC Planning Report No. 42, as a guide for regional and community development.
BE IT FURTHER HEREBY RESOLVED that the Town of Geneva Clerk transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.
